Fillaree’s 2025 Waste Recovery Report + Mid-Year 2026 Update: Keeping 9,300 Pounds in Circulation

At Fillaree, we believe sustainability is about more than the products we make. It’s also about what happens to materials after they’ve been used.
That’s why we’re excited to share our 2025 Annual Waste Recovery Report + Mid-Year 2026 Update, prepared by Bryce Brooks of Gather Green.
From January 2025 through July 2026, our waste recovery program helped divert approximately 9,300 pounds—or 4.65 tons—of material from landfill through composting, recycling, creative reuse, and secondhand redistribution.
And behind that number are countless materials that found a new purpose instead of becoming waste.
9,300 Pounds Diverted From Landfill
Between January 2025 and July 2026, Fillaree completed 10 scheduled waste recovery pickups, working with a network of downstream partners to find the best possible pathway for each material.
Our recovery efforts included:
- 350 lbs of compostable material sent to commercial composting
- 900 lbs of plastic film sent for plastic film recycling
- 400 lbs of multilayer lye bags recovered through ByFusion
- 150 lbs of coconut oil bags sent to specialty plastic recycling
- 6,500 lbs of paper, cardboard, glass, metals, and other traditional recyclables
- 75 lbs of creative reuse materials redistributed through Scrap Exchange
- 175 lbs of reusable materials given a second life through business-to-business reuse
- 650 lbs of specialty recyclables processed through regional recovery programs
Together, these pathways kept approximately 9,300 pounds of material out of landfill disposal.
Finding the Right Next Step for Every Material
Waste recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. Different materials require different solutions, which is why we work with a range of downstream partners.
Organics → Compost → Healthy Soils
Approximately 350 pounds of organic material were sent to commercial composting, where they can be transformed into nutrient-rich compost for landscaping and agriculture.
Plastic Film → Recycled Feedstock → New Products
Approximately 900 pounds of plastic film were recovered and sent to plastic film recycling, where the material can be processed into feedstock for new plastic products.
Multilayer Lye Bags → Construction Blocks
One of the most exciting developments in our recovery program has been our new partnership with ByFusion.
Approximately 400 pounds of multilayer lye bags were recovered and sent through this innovative pathway, where difficult-to-recycle plastic packaging can be compressed into durable construction blocks.
It’s an example of why we continue looking for creative solutions for materials that don’t fit easily into traditional recycling systems.
Recyclables → New Products
Approximately 6,500 pounds of traditional recyclables, including paper, cardboard, glass, and metals, were directed toward municipal recycling and domestic manufacturing markets.
Creative Reuse → Community Impact
Materials that still have useful life don’t necessarily need to enter the recycling stream at all.
